Video storytelling is a great way to highlight members of your organization and showcase the types of people who participate in your subculture. In the case of a gym, competition to get new clients is stiff and people have a plethora of choices. Telling the stories of your members and staff on an on-going basis is a great way to differentiate yourself and highlight unique attributes. Seeing members in the actual gym environment and allowing them to present themselves in their own words, adds to the authenticity of a message.
In this particular case, the gym had an “athlete of the month” prize each month and each time an athlete was awarded this designation, it generated a lot of excitement and buzz around the gym. The video was also sponsored by Maclin Ford so the gym was able to leverage the video production into a sponsorship opportunity. The sponsor got to associate themselves with a respected member of the community and the gym got to highlight their positive environment.
